ABOUT THE IMAGE: Released in 1952, and directed by Robert McKimson, “Rabbit’s Kin” was the only theatrical release for Pete Puma. “Rabbit’s Kin” marks the first use of the “three or four” lumps of sugar gag, which heralded Pete Puma into cartoon history.
ABOUT THE MEDIUM: The original drawing was rendered by Juan Ortiz and the master hand inked by Laurie Dindis. The background was painted by Hector Martinez, and reproduced using the fine art Giclée process.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Robert McKimson was an American animator and illustrator known for his work on the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of cartoons from Warner Brothers. He wrote and directed many animated cartoon shorts starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Foghorn Leghorn, Hippety Hopper and the Tasmanian Devil. He was also well known for defining Bugs Bunny's look in the 1943 short Tortoise Wins By A Hare.
